Green Tea – benefits

Being British I do love a cup of tea!

But have you ever tried green tea?!

I think it is pretty much like marmite in the sense people either love it or hate it. Personally, I like the taste especially if you add a dash of honey to sweeten it up.

Green tea has so many benefits and it is so good for you. Known to be the healthiest beverage on the planet, the leaves in green tea are richer in antioxidants than other types of tea because of the way they are processed.

Green tea contains B vitamins, folate (naturally occurring folic acid), manganese, potassium, magnesium, caffeine and other antioxidants, notably catechins.

Here are some of the benefits from drinking green tea:

Weight loss 

Green tea boosts your metabolism which aids in weight loss – one of the most common reasons I hear that people drink green tea!

Oral health

Drinking green tea reduces plaque and bacteria in your mouth which can reduce bad breath.

Helps with brain function

Green tea contains just enough caffeine to stimulate your brain which can improve your mood, reaction time and memory!

It also contains the amino acid L-theanine which can work with caffeine to improve brain function.

Lowers the risk of cancer

“Green tea has powerful antioxidants that may protect against cancer. Multiple studies show that green tea drinkers have a lower risk of various types of cancer”

According to the NHS, there is no evidence that drinking green tea protects you from cancer however, there are ongoing studies where the results look promising!

Tip: I was once told that if you eat/drink something you don’t like  10 times you train yourself to like it – give it a go ☺️

I usually pick up ‘Twinings pure green tea’ but I decided to be adventurous and try the Twinings Mango Tango Green Tea which tastes absolutely gorgeous! I would definitely recommend if your not too keen on pure green tea.
