I used to think if I drank enough green tea and did 10 sit ups I’d have a 6 pack. The truth is, losing weight does take work but by making these small changes you will see a big difference!
1. Drink only water
Cut out the fizzy drinks, tea and squash. Water has so many health benefits and can help you feel fuller for longer as well as making your skin look amazing!
Aim to drink 2 litres of water a day which adds up to 8 glasses. You will notice the difference and feel fresh!
I lost 3lbs alone by replacing lucozade orange with water.
2. Increase exercise
Whether that’s taking the stairs instead of the lift, increase deep cleaning at home or high intensity training. Just 30 minutes of exercise a day can make a big difference.
I found that I lost most of my weight walking instead of running as you can walk for longer meaning your heart rate is increased for longer.
3. Cut down on sugar
An obvious one. Cut out chocolate, cakes, ice cream, fizzy pop and pizza for 21 days and see the difference yourself!
There are some foods that are high in natural sugar which are good for you and should be included in your daily diet – fruit!
4. Eat meals instead of snacking
I made the mistake of thinking that if I took carrots, fruit and a protein bar to work daily I would lose weight quickly.
Whilst the food itself is ok, it’s not lunch! I found myself starving by 2pm resulting me going straight to the vending machine for chocolate for a sugar rush.
Whilst it’s great to have healthy snacks, do not use them as a meal instead eat a hearty meal for lunch!
Healthy snack ideas:
- Carrots and humus
- Apples and peanut butter
- Handful of nuts (Almonds, walnuts, cashews)
5. Stop eating out
Even eating a salad in a restaurant can have the hidden calories.
Make your own food so you know exactly what it contains and as a bonus, it saves you money.
6. Swap white for wholemeal
Swapping pasta, rice and bread to wholemeal can have many health benefits. With more vitamins, high in fibre and less processed ingredients than white aids in weight loss.
7. Try going vegan for one day
This one may be more of a challenge but for one day a week, try to go meat and diary free. This gives you the perfect opportunity to increase your intake of natural food such as nuts, fruit and vegetables. Also, if you still like your porridge in the morning, use almond or soy milk instead.
You will see a difference by making one just of these changes for at least 21 days! It would be great to get your thoughts and also hear about your journey ☺
